HTC 3000 Heavy Duty Universal Mobile Base with 700-Pound Capacity

Reviews of HTC 3000 Heavy Duty Universal Mobile Base with 700-Pound Capacity

1.) HTC 3000 Heavy Duty Universal Mobile Base
Reviewed by: Mike Urbana, IL
Rating:
This is a really good quality after-market mobil base for heavy shop equipment. I've used it under a Powermatic #66 table saw so I can use this super saw in a small shop and move it where I need it. The base is very stable and easy to 'park' and lift back onto the casters. Although I don't have a good basis for comparing this to other mobil bases, this seems a great value at under $80 when compared to the Powermatic base at over $200.

2.) HTC 3000
Reviewed by: DIYtillIdie Ijamsville, MD USA
Rating:
Works fine for a contractor table saw ~350 lbs. Moves easy and smoothly. I would have preferred it to be a little more solid when locked. I think it is the compliance of the rubber feet. You won't break the bolts if you keep in mind that they are 1/4-20 and use the appropriate torque.

3.) Works great
Reviewed by: Tombo in Ventura Southern California
Rating:
I bought this for my Craftsman contractor saw. I have two cast-iron extensions, so it weighs a bit more than most similar saws. It is also well below the rated capacity of this base.

I set mine up for 24" x 28", which is doable, but barely, with the rails as supplied. I ordered the extension rail kit from HTC for an additional cost. It was worth it to me, as I wanted the most rigid base I could find. I also put floor of 3/4" plywood inside the base to tie it all together.

The results are spectactular; the base easily handles the load and it is both easy to move around, but also quite immovable when put into position.

It is exactly what I had expected when I ordered.

4.) Excellent Wheels 4 U
Reviewed by: legaldesign North Scituate, RI United States

I'm on my way to having purchased and assembled five of these bad boys. They work GREAT! OK, putting the FIRST one together was just a little tedious, but it worked so well, and I've discovered so many other useful heavy-moving-around applications, I won't use anything else. I even had the unusual experience of telling the manufacturer they left one wheel out of the box and three days later it arrived. HTC makes an awesome product and are even ready to correct the occasional snafu. What's not to like?

5.) This is a sturdy stand for my Powermatic Saw
Reviewed by: arizona_chip Yuma, Arizona United States
Rating:
This stand is fairly simple to assemble and is sturdy enough to hold my Powermatic model 66 table saw. I ended up re-assembling it because the first try was too tight to let the table base set down in the stand. I do need to purchase the extension to support the extended table and fence. Overall, this is a very sturdy alternative to the stand offered by Powermatic.

6.) HTC3000 works great on a Rigid 6 1/2" Jointer
Reviewed by: R. Gillespie Charleston, WV
Rating:
I purchased the HTC3000 at Amazon for my floor model JP06100 Rigid jointer that weighs about 300 lbs. Since the HTC is rated for 700 lbs. it handles the Rigid jointer easily. I especially like the wheel locks better on the HTC3000 than the HTC2000 which I also got at Amazon for my lighter weight table saw. My table saw didn't really need a mobile base but it helps me move it out of the way in tight spaces in my garage workshop. The directions are a little vague but if you are a "handyman" at heart you should have no problem putting it together. With the free shipping this is a bargain. I recommend it highly for anyone who has a heavy shop tool or cabinet that needs mobility.

7.) Great Mobile Base
Reviewed by: Julie Barfield
Rating:
I have purchased the HTC mobile bases and while they are good, I found this one easier and better to assemble. It literally goes together in about 3 minutes. I purchased it for a Jet 16 in. heavy duty planer and it rolls smoothly, locks great and I am completely satisfied.

8.) Crowded Shop Rescue
Reviewed by: Jack L. Pierce
Rating:
The unit is sturdy and appears to be just what was needed to make my heavy duty table saw mobile in a crowded shop. I would recommend some careful planning before assembling the unit. I had to take mine apart and re-configure it somewhat in order to have it function properly. The instructions are a bit lacking in detail.

9.) Pricey, but gets the job done
Reviewed by: Stephen Sawyer Livonia, MI USA
Rating:
I needed a heavy-duty base for a vintage 8" Delta jointer that weighed in at about 550 lbs. I selected the HTC3000 as it was advertised to have enough capacity for this jointer.

It lived up to its billing. It went together in less than 30 minutes, and isn't strained at all by this machine. I'm particularly impressed by the fact that it is "locked" at all four corners when in use. The stationary wheels lock securely, and there are two "feet" that are lowered to immobilize the end with the swivel casters. It's almost impossible to scoot across the floor when all four points are "locked".

The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I think it's a bit over-priced, but I can guarantee you won't have any buyer's remorse based on the quality and functionality of this base.

10.) Really a medium duty base
Reviewed by: S. Benefield Ada, OK United States
Rating:
I own a couple of these and bought them because Amazon was running a special and I got them for the price of the HTC 2000 Universal Mobile Base. This HTC 3000 base is more than adequate for medium duty service - such as mated to a 6" jointer or a bench top planer mounted on a stand but I would not use on a large shaper or a Unisaw. Just not heavy enough!

11.) Base OK
Reviewed by: Jean
Rating:
The Universal Base instructions are clear and easy to follow. Photographs or drawings would make it even better but assembly was not a problem. It is a good choice to negate the wheel problems on my Powermatic 2000 Table Saw. It should work for most heavy items that need to be mobile. Installation on the Powermatic can be a bother for one person since the saw weighs 540 lbs. To install first raise the saw on the broken wheels as high as possible. Slide the corners of the mobile base under the corners of the saw. Attach the sides by carefully holding a nut between the saw and the side (not much space available there so finger dexterity is required). When all four sides are attached, lower the wheels such that the saw is resting on the mobile base.
Even with this process, some assistance may be required.
OR: Assemble the base and find four strong people with good backs to lift up the saw and set it on the base.

Reviewer: E. Weber "woodworker" (Nashua, NH United States) - See all my reviews

This mobile base is similar to the HTC1000 and HTC2000 except that it is rated for heavier loads.
I did try to use it for my 500 LBS bandsaw. It does hold the weight but the design of the mobile base with straight rails just isn't good enough to absorb vibrations of heavy machinery.

I think angled rails or much stiffer ones would be necessary.

I did since use a shop fox base with much better success.

13.) Poorly Designed
Reviewed by: tstake San Jose, CA USA
Rating:
What's killing this product is that HTC went with cheap plastic lifting pedals that raise and lower the base. Mine lasted for about 2 years and then both pedals cracked. My table saw weighs 450lbs. The floor I am working on is flat, I move my saw about 5 feet each time and I have never left the base stay in a raised position for more than 2 minutes. I'm going to contact HTC to see if I can get a couple of replacement pedals (at a reasonable price). Make the investment and go with a base that does not use plastic pedals as this is the critical leverage point for the entire base.

14.) really disappointed, not strong enough, cheap materials
Reviewed by: Adrian Veidt Middletown, NJ USA

I snapped about 4 bolts in half on this thing just tightening the rails together. That just shouldn't happen, for 700lb rating that type of flimsiness scares the crap out of me.

When I lifted one of the rear wheel stops, a piece of plastic snapped off from the pressure.

All in all, i was looking for a no-joke, heavy duty monster that scoffed at the weight of my jointer/planer, this thing just didn't cut it.

15.) Time simply too valuable!!

Well, I just got thru assembling the HTC 3000
and it took over four hours. Lousy instruction
manual, not clear at all on the sequence of
assembly; had to unbolt it a number of times
in order to get it to fit correctly because
of the way the wheels have to be bolted on.
The next one, IF there is a NEXT one, should
be a lot easier to assemble since I now know
what to allow for in advance. I can say this
however,it does appear to do the job quite well
and with the free S&H and ESPECIALLY it being
MADE IN THE USA !!!!!!! Kudos for that HTC !!

17.) Not suitable for heavy equipment--
Reviewed by: Smoky Mountain Carpenter Brevard, NC

This HTC 3000 "heavy duty" mobile base is supposedly rated for 700 pounds, but I mounted my Grizzly 10" cabinet saw (less than 500 pounds) on it and, after moving it less than a half dozen times, one of the casters has completely disintegrated and a second one is coming apart. And this is on an absolutely smooth concrete floor. I tried without success to find a manufacturers number/contact to complain with no luck. Fine if you have a light-weight piece of equipment, but don't try putting anything near the "700 lb. capacity."

18.) Stay away from this one!!!
Reviewed by: TimTheToolMan Hendersonville, NC

After a quick look around at mobile bases I bought this base even though it had gotten mixed reviews. BIG mistake. No instructions, lots of assembly and the result was way short of my expectations. My 450lb cabinet saw is way too heavy for this base. It sags like an old plow horse. The outboard wheels are way too flimsy. The whole saw leans toward these wheels and the floor lock levers seem way too flimsy. I don't known enough about mobile bases to recommend another brand but I do know this one is not worth the money.

19.) The specifications are a lie
Reviewed by: Woodshop Man MINNEAPOLIS, MN USA

*(I gave this one star because you can't rate something "no stars")
The product description, and the outside of the HTC box say the size is 14" x 14" to 22" by 54". B.S.
It comes with (4) 17 3/4" sides and (4) 13 1/2" sides. If you put the two 17 " sides on the ends, the other six sides stretched end-to-end only comes up to 45"(that's not bolting them together).
If you add up their measurments you get 152" total. If you add up the total sides supplied it's only 125", and that's having them end-to-end, not bolted together!
Then I figured it out. They were measuring from the OUTSIDE of the attached wheels, not the inside where the machine actually sits to get the 22" and measuring the other sides end-to-end from the outside of the wheels again to get 54"....what the #@$%^!
I think someone was smoking some funny weed when they came up with these numbers.
And, even if you still could use this base, it's never-NEVER- going to hold anything close to it's advertised weight limit.
And a last general comment.....could these companies PLEASE start hiring an English speaking person to write their instructions!

with other positive reviews and other stores having it back ordered, thoguth it would have been a good product. After two hours of fussing with it, teh brakes dont work and to quote my head of props it was a POS. so out into the dumpster it went. Save your money and find a better unit. This one is made in china and apparently without too much in the way of quality control.
