If your looking for A well built drill press this is the one, believe me I've looked high and low and whats on the market doesn't compare unless your willing to spend $2600.00 on up. The pulleys are heavy duty, the body and base are heavy duty, the motor is 3/4 hp 110 or 220, the light and on and off motor buttons are located perfectly, I haven't seen A drill press this well built in 25 years for the price, it was worth every penny so don't be stupid and buy an under rated drill press that can't even drill through A piece of 3/16" steel without freezing up, if you want A power horse this is the press for you, I'm so happy someone still makes A qualitity press that's affordable, Thanks Jet.

I saved a long time for this drill press. I am very pleased with it's performance. I was a little surprised to see it is made in China, but as the packaging states, This drill press is built to Jet's specifications. The motor is very heavy duty. If you don't have a tractor get a strong friend to help put the head on it. Very Pleased Old Fart

I bought this drill press for my husband and he loves it. He researched several brands and models and narrowed it down to this one and one that had a variable speed for much more money. He was looking for a heavy duty floor drill press that would handle pretty thick steel.

PROS - large base for stability, work light positioned to iluminate the drill bit, large table with slits to anchor a metal vise, very heavy duty to handle most jobs that anyone would do

CONS - table doesn't rotate which forces him to reposition item for next hole, have to reposition belts for different speeds

Even though I went with the free standard shipping, we were contacted the next working day to arrange delivery (shipped on a semi and needs 2 strong men or a forklift to remove from truck). Very fast delivery!

A really heavy duty tool with the following notable characteristics: Exhibits noisy sheet metal at some speeds and vibration at highest speeds. Quill travel is only 4+ inches. At low speeds this press generates very high torque and will damage tools if the operator is not careful. (I installed a 1/2" chuck and did not drive the adapter in tightly. This press twisted the adapter out and ruined the chuck for precision work.) Depth gauge is slow to use. Tool does not have a quill lock. Like all drills of this type there is a big gap in speeds and getting over the gap requires switching belts. The table is very big and heavy. If you put a big cross vise on it, raising the table is very laborious. I rigged up a counter weight, and it makes life much easier. Runout with supplied 3/4" chuck is well under 0.002", which is excellent.

All in all, I think this press is bigger and stronger than I need. I'm thinking of selling it and getting the Delta variable speed with 6" quill travel and quill lock. The Delta costs less and, unless someone needs to drill or saw large holes in steel, I don't think they need this much drill press.

Also, all parts of the tool are VERY heavy. Unless you are a professional weight lifter, get a strong friend to help with assembly. Tool was packed very well and was delivered in perfect condition. Tech support is excellent.

Tons of power and Jet's renowned accuracy make this a great choice for the professional as well as the choosy home woodworker. The smooth-traveling table raises and lowers at the turn of a crank to exactly where you need it; the 3/4-inch chuck rides smoothly up and down. Angled drilling is no problem, because the rock-solid large worktable tilts to 45 degrees. The table is round, and that has its advantages, but it does give you a little less room for clamping. When it's time to change drill speed to any of the 12 speeds ranging from 150 to 4,200 rpm, just flip open the hinged metal cover, disengage the motor, slip the belt onto the right pulley and you're back at work in a flash.
